A barge carrying four million gallons of heating oil leaked a small amount today, a day after it ran aground off Rhode Island, but officials said an environmental disaster had apparently been averted.
The Coast Guard planned to empty the barge on Sunday. Booms were used to contain the spilled oil until it could evaporate.
