Summertime in Snug Harbor, Rhode Island
Ever since I can remember when I was a young
boy, my mother and father and younger brother and I would take off
for at least a week to Snug Harbor.
Snug Harbor is an older village of sorts in southern Rhode
Island, tucked away this summer vacation spot is walking distance
to the marina, where fisherman must have come and gone for more
than a century.
Some of my fondest summertime memories are
those of crawling around with my brother and summertime friends
under the old docks of the Snug Harbor Marina.
We would spend hours “under there”, as the tide came in
and out with every return the tide would bring more wonders of the
ocean and unique sea creatures for us to examine and play with.
One summer after playing underneath the old
docks at the Marina, my brother and I and “gang” moved to the
boat landing. The
boat landing was not much, just about twelve feet wide the rough
and old pavement just sort of slowly dipped into the warm Rhode
Island ocean waters.
